陳偉殷表示，「我想這很重要，不管是對球隊還是對我來說都是，因為我真的很久沒有投球了，所以我要如何對球隊有所貢獻這件事很重要。」
陳偉殷上次登板已經是在台灣時間7月21日，後來因左手肘傷勢，遭馬林魚放進傷兵名單中，受傷前4.99的防禦率是陳偉殷大聯盟生涯新高，19場出賽戰績為5勝4負，其中有9場為優質先發。
原本球團預計陳偉殷最快可在9月中歸隊，雖然晚了點，但也趕上爭搶季後賽門票的重要時刻，殷仔將取代原本菜鳥艾許（Jake Esch）的輪值，同時也讓好友費南德茲（Jose Fernandez）多了一天休息。
重返大聯盟的第一戰馬林魚也不打算操之過急，陳偉殷表示，投手教練尼耶維斯（Juan Nieves）有設下球數限制，雖然並未非常明確，但可能是在80顆左右，畢竟上一場模擬賽陳偉殷的進度還在65球的球數。
>馬林魚總教練馬丁利（Don Mattingly）表示，「我們一定會對他小心翼翼，到時候會?量比賽情勢，看看會投到4局或5局，不可能期待他會投到7、8局，這是一個合理的限制，不過希望就讓他上場比賽，看看他能走多遠。」
